Press Release: Second Annual Our Kids 5K Attracts Over 600 Community Members to Downtown Huntsville
On Saturday 7 June 2014, members of the community teamed together to hold the second annual Our Kids 5K, a run held in downtown Huntsville that benefited four children’s nonprofits – Stella's Voice, Stephanie Dawn Fund, Kids to Love, and Lifeline Adoption Services. The 7 June 5K, which began at the Von Braun Center Parking Garage, attracted almost 400 runners and 600 people total to the downtown Huntsville area. Participants enjoyed scenic downtown views while raising awareness about adoption, foster care, and orphan care domestically and worldwide. A true public-private partnership, local business leaders, additional nonprofits, including The Rock Family Worship Center, and residents desiring to make a difference teamed together for a worthwhile cause, which is precisely what economic development is all about!
